Series Chessmen. Available in both Ebonized and Rosewood, this full-tournament sized Chess set features a 4.0" King height with a 1.75" diameter base and weighs an impressive 52 ounces (not including additional Queens.) It has been designed to withstand the rigors of practical play while maintaining an elegance which has become the hallmark of a House of Staunton chess set. The chessmen are brand new and come housed in a special House of Staunton Mahogany Chess box(see further below) which is lined in green velour, compartmentally divided, and features brass quadrant hinges; plus Susan Polgar's signature, silk-screened on its lid. Each set also includes a personalized Certificate of Authenticity and an original
manufacturer's label, signed by Susan Polgar, indicating the production number.
Grandmaster Susan Polgar is the four-time Women's World Champion and one of the world's leading pioneers for the promotion of women's chess. She is an award-winning and best-selling author and has represented the United States at numerous International Chess competitions.
She was the first woman to quality for the Men's World Championship and has won
an unprecedented 10 medals in Olympic competition. She is currently the #1
female Chess player in the United States with a USCF Rating of 2597, more than
100 points higher than the #2 ranked player.
Each set consists of 34 Chessmen, 17 light and 17 dark (including the two additional Queens.)
