The classic treasure of positional chess, My System is recognized by many to be the handbook of how to understand chess. Before Aron Nimzowitsch wrote this, chess was a romantic, tactical melee, partially codified by Steinitz & the "Classical School of Chess". Nimzowitsch thought of a greater potential for pieces, influenece of the center from afar, prophylaxis, and other concepts that were genuinely revolutionary for his time.
