Transistor - A1746 for Mimaki and Roland printers

These hard-to-find transistors are used to regulate the voltage to the print head. If these go bad, then you will gradually notice extreme deflection, significant missing nozzles and eventually an entire color missing. Since bad transistors exhibit the same results with clogged dampers and electrically bad heads, you will have to go through a whole suite of tests to determine where the problem lies.

In most Roland head and main boards, there are fuses to check first before checking the transistors. For JV3 and JV4 boards, there are no fuses and the transistors will be the first to blow.

Each print head utilizes 2 different transistors. This part number is for the transistor labeled A1746 If you are not familiar with testing NPN transistors, you will need to consult an electronics technician or learn the testing methods through the internet. We do not provide technical information on testing these.

Should you need help in replacements or servicing your board, we provide such repair services - please look on this page for this.

Fuse for Roland Versacamm (SP) Main Board

ONE (1) Fuse for Versacamm Main Board SP SERIES- Are you having a problem where a head is not working (2 colors completely non printing) and you have eliminated all other variables? Many chances, the fuse is burnt. Many times this is caused by a short, removing cables while the power is connected, or many other scenarios.

These are surface mount fuses which means that either you should be knowledgeable in performing micro-device soldering and have the appropriate equipment to do so. It is recommended you have a SMT soldering station and heat gun to remove the bad fuse. These are only for the SP series printer with the numbers 1.6 on the fuse. If you have a VP series or printer with 3.5 etched in the fuse, we have that on the following item in the store.

If you feel you are not qualified or do not have the right equipment, we highly recommend that we perform the procedure or have someone else able to do so. Otherwise, if not done correctly, you could end up replacing the entire main board

All fuses have been individually tested at the factory. We do not offer refunds or replacements - You may elect to order an additional fuse just in case you burn one out while installing it.

Roland Cap Motor-Wiper Driver for Servo Board MTD2005F

IC chip - Servo Motor Driver MTD2005F for a Roland Soljet or Versacamm Servo board to fix Cap Motor and Wiper Motor errors

When the Servo board is broken, the power supply voltage for the Cap Motor or Wiper Motor will not be supplied and the Motor will not move at all. Usually, a technician will replace the servo board. However, this may be fixed by replacing the MTD2005F IC chip on the board. If there is a voltage going to the cap motor or wiper motor (when the command is given), then the servo board is most likely good and there is something else wrong (like bad motor)

Fujitsu 1394 IC chip - for JV3/JV4 Firewire repairs

Here is a IC chip - 1394 Driver for a Mimaki JV3 Firewire board.

If you had a serious electrical surge, and your computer doesn't detect the printer anymore, there's a good chance that the 1394 card has burned out due to a voltage spike. Replacing this chip may fix your problem. These ICs are typically the ones that burn first. You should also check out the surrounding resistors as well as a couple transceivers on the board too. The firewire chip is easily damaged by voltage spikes (more so than other FW products) so it is very important to connect and disconnect the firewire cable ONLY WHEN BOTH THE PRINTER AND COMPUTER ARE OFF. These IC chips are difficult to obtain and thus the high price of the component. However, it is a lot less than replacing the uber -expensive board ($1600+) with a new one.

We do not provide any technical advice nor provide any warranties to the installation of the chip. This is a difficult repair and is an 80 pin IC chip which will require advance techniques to desolder the old one as well as putting the new one back on. Having an SMD hot air station would definitely make the process much easier. We do not recommend you performing this repair if you are new to surface mount soldering techniques or have reservations in taking apart the printer.
