Message from the Associate Director
We are headquartered in Orlando, Florida, and have a strong local business base in MS&T activity. Many of our members are defense contractors, but we also have a growing contingent that is engaged in a wide range of digital media, entertainment, and medical applications of simulation technology. The military activity in the Central Florida area have annual contracting authority of nearly $2 billion - significant business, to say the least.

I hope this answers your questions about the value of NCS membership. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know. Thank you again for your interest in the National Center for Simulation and we look forward to welcoming you to our organization.

To Be More Specific:
  • We provide a link between government, industry and academia engaged in MS&T activities. This capability has even greater emphasis due to the recent opening of a satellite office that is housed with The Patuxent Partnership(TPP)in Lexington Park, MD. We have formed an alliance with TPP that calls for linkages between NCS and TPP that will help the members of both organizations brand and market operations nationwide and will put NCS members much closer to decision-makers in the Washington DC area.

  • We play an economic development role in that we provide assistance to member companies in terms of helping them find business partners and sources of funding. In some cases, we team with our members when it makes sense for a non-profit organization to take the lead or be part of a team on a proposed project.

  • We serve to promote simulation technology at all levels of education through a number of educational initiatives (scholarship programs, teacher and student internships, support for technology "magnet" schools, etc.)

  • We have an award-winning website - www.simulationinformation.com - that receives more than 200,000 visitors per month who stay an average of 58.6 minutes each. NCS member companies are linked on the website and have access to proprietary information that is password-protected (complete contact information for all NCS members, announcements on availability of grant funds, requests for proposals, pre-solicitation notices of DOD contracts, DOD contract awards in excess of $5M, reference materials, etc.).

  • NCS members are invited to send us press releases for posting on the website. Members may also publish articles in the NCS quarterly newsletter "The Simulator" which is mailed to more than 2500 decision makers. Advertising is also available at discounted rates for members.

  • NCS members may also post their job openings on the Employment Opportunities page found on the website.

  • NCS is on the "call list" for the U.S. State Department's International Visitor Program and frequently hosts visitors to Central Florida who are interested in the MS&T industry. On these occasions, our members are invited to give briefings to an audience of potential customers that they are not likely meet in another forum.

  • In addition to our alliance with TPP, NCS is also a member of the Homeland Security Industries Association (HSIA), a lobbying group in Washington, DC. This collaboration brings opportunities to our members who are especially focused on homeland security products/services.

  • As an NCS member, you regularly receive current information on relevant industry issues, technology, government activities and congressional and global concerns.

  • We have regular membership meetings (the 3rd Thursday of each month) which provide an effective networking forum and include member and guest presentations.

  • NCS members are invited to hold special events to showcase their products and services to the MS&T industry. Marketing broadcasts distributed by NCS reach a wide and varied audience in government, industry and academia.

  • NCS members (excluding Student Membership and Academic Affiliate) are eligible to vote in board elections, as well as run for a seat on the board of directors when vacancies occur.
