Q. Do I have to use Telnet or Ftp to set up a cart?
A. No, all setup is done via easy to use screens with your browser. No ftp
or telnet is ever required.

Q. Do I have to know HTML to set up the cart?
A. No, it is not necessary to know any HTML to set the cart up. The manager
will automatically set up a working front page, and templates are provided
that will give you a working cart immediately after setting it up. Not only
can you select from several different presentation formats for your products
page, but you can select the colors you want as well.
That said, if you know HTML, then you can completely customize your cart as
some of our present customers have done. The manager allows you to edit the
HTML files within the browser, or to capture them and edit them offline,
then upload the customized files.

Q. What advantages does using a cart service have over purchasing a cart
and installing it on our system?
A. There are several advantages:
- Whereas most carts you purchase can cost from a few hundred to over a
thousand dollars, there is absolutely NO up front cost to use our cart.
Unfortunately, many people find that a cart they purchased does not meet their needs, or
cannot be used after purchasing it, and may not be able to get a refund. Or
they find they are locked in, and have to pay additional costs for customization.
- Once you buy a cart, you will need someone to set it up, and to make
changes to it that knows both html and the language it is written in.
- Some carts are compiled, which means they cannot be changed or
customized at all. Authors of many carts in the past have simply
disappeared making it impossible to fix bugs found later.
- Things can change. Regulations change, country names change, shipping rates
change, exchange rates change, your processor may change, and what a top of the line shopping cart should do changes.
Our cart will keep up with all these changes, always staying completely up
to date, with no hassle or cost to you, our customer.
- There is no free support period where after a certain time you no
longer get any support. We support our cart for you, and assist you no
matter how long you have had the cart.
- When taking customer data many people demand a secure connection. It is
unlikely that your server will be able to provide a secure connection. King
Cart establishes a secure connection for the forms that your customers fill
in, as well as any setup or changes you make through the manager, assuring
you that none of your data gets compromised, and none of your customers
abort their order due to security concerns.

Q. I am not ready to sign up with an on-line processor yet. How do I obtain
the customer's credit card information securely when I use Offline ordering?
A. You have two choices. The easiest to set up is to tell King Cart to send
half of the credit card number in your confirmation email, and put half into
your orders file. A more elegant solution is to tell King Cart to encrypt
the customer information using PGP, and email it to you. The manager has a
place to paste your public key so that the encrypted information cannot be
read by anyone but you.

Q. I have lost my private key for decrypting. How can I update my key?
A. Paste your revocation certificate into the key field and submit, then
submit your new key.

Q. How do I put multiple price breaks into the cart?
A. The link to the right of where you enter the price of an item explains in
detail the format. Basically the format is [qty 1 price],[qty #
price]/#.... ie. 29.95,24.95/5,21.50/10 for price breaks at 5 and 10.

Q. What happens if your system crashes?
A. No one wants to think about that, but it can happen to any system anywhere.
We provide daily backups of every cart to a second hard drive, and weekly
backups to another system or removable media. We also provide a means for
you to backup and download your cart through the manager.

Q. I will be closing my store for a couple of months. Will it get deleted?
A. Stores which are inactive for several months will be removed from the active
stores. They will be moved to a backup, and can be restored by request
later. Also you can download a backup, and use that to restore your store
later as well.

Q. I have this great feature I want you to add to your cart. Will you
implement it?
A. Some of the best features of the cart were requests from our customers.
No one knows better than you what features you need and can use, and what
unnecessary hassles a cart may be putting you through. We cannot guarantee
we will add every feature suggested to us, but if we think that it will be
useful to several members, we will very likely add it. Best of all, you
will automatically get features others have asked for just by being a
member. There is nothing to install, or download, your cart will be updated
to the latest version always. We will email you whenever a new feature is
added so you can choose to take advantage of it immediately.

Q. How am I billed for the service?
A. We keep your credit card on file for billing. The card number is fully
encrypted on the system so it is secure. On the first of the month we will
bill the card number for the completed transactions the cart provided the
previous month. If there were no transactions, then there is no charge for
that month. The billing will be done in the name of TriMark Engineering, our
parent company.

Q. I want to customize the searching, how do I do that?
A. There are several fields that can be modified or added for searches.

Q. How do I interface with my on-line processor?
A. King Cart is already interfaced with several processors. All you have to
do is select which processor you are using, and enter your id and any other
fields your processor may require in the "gateway settings" screen of the
manager.
If your processor is not supported by our cart, please let us know and we will work with them to add it to our cart's capabilities.

Q. How up-to-date are the exchange rates?
A. They are updated from the IMF hourly.
Q. Can I get rid of the King Cart Logo and link at the bottom of the pages?
A. Yes you have full control of the footers. Initially we had a large footer
with an image of our logo on it. We have had several people complain that
it is to intrusive, so we have replaced it with a small text link by
default. However you can even elimiate that once you set the store up.

Q. How can I offer services or software that requires no shipping?
A. Entering a weight of 0 will tell the cart that nothing is being shipped,
and no shipping charges will be charged unless something with a weight over
0 is also ordered.

Q. What might cause problems with images showing up?
A. There are several errors that can cause images to not appear in your
cart. In general the problem is usually the path or the filename.
Verify that the filename you listed in the manager for the cart is exactly
the same as that which was uploaded. It IS case sensitive, and often a capital
name is followed by a small .gif or .jpg. If so make sure it all matches.
If you are using a thumbnail, the name of the thumbnail and the large image
must be identical, except that the thumbnail is prefixed with a "tn-". I.E.
sky.jpg would have a thumbnail of tn-sky.jpg. Both must be uploaded.
Paths can be a problem if not understood. The default path for images is
"http://king-cart.com/store/[store_id]/". If you use this path and wish to
throw the image from our server you simply list the filename of the image in
the appropriate place. If you want to throw an image from your own server,
then you can put the full url in the filename I.E.
"http://myserver.com/path/image.jpg". If you want to throw all images from
another server you can put the url for it in for the default path for
images, then list each image simply as the filename with no url or path
information on it.
One last thing to be aware of is that a secure page MUST throw images from a
secure site. Thus if you want to throw an image in the secure header or
secure footer, then you must specify https:// instead of http:// or use
a relative url.

Q. How can I offer free shipping by my choice, but allow them to select
other choices for a price?
A. The "First Class Mail" option is not obtained from the USPS site (they
do not provide the information). So you simply change the $.34 for 1st
ounce and $.23 for additional ounces entries to $0 and $0. Then you rename
the "First Class Mail" to be called whatever you want.

Q. Can I transfer my products from another shopping cart?
A. Yes. We have done this for a number of stores. All have to do is provide
us with the data file from the store you are presently using and we can
import all of your products into our store, usually in less than an hour.
